Trio Systems was originally founded by Alan Bartholomew in 1978 to develop and publish microcomputer software. Since then Trio Systems has created microcomputer software for a wide variety of clients. Products have included vertical market applications software for small businesses and software packages sold through retail channels, such as database managers, file indexing systems, report writers, and numerous office automation systems.
In 1984 Trio Systems introduced the C-Index database library for C language application development. C-Index was created to meet the need for more powerful and flexible database management capabilities in microcomputer software.
In 1990 Trio Systems responded to the advancing requirements of software developers with the introduction of C-Index/II. Developers using C-Index/II include Top 10 software companies, Fortune 100 companies, and many companies that started small and have grown to become multi-million dollar software publishers. Since 1984 various versions of C-Index have been incorporated into thousands of applications which are in use today by millions of end-users.
