Advanced Features
C-Index/II has many advanced features. It takes learning just 9 high level functions to start using C-Index/II. For more control and special application requirements there are over 80 additional function calls. Press "Details" for a complete feature and function list.
Files may be up to 8.7 Terabytes in size. Each file may contain any combination of records, mixing multiple records types in a single file. This is especially useful for shrinkwrap applications which benefit from storing all application data in a single file.
Keys may be of any type, including string, binary, numeric, and custom (user defined collation sequence). Key comparison code can be easily modified for European, Japanese, and other international character sets. Segmented keys allow any combination of key types in a single key.
Fast Performance
C-Index/II is designed and written with fast performance in mind. It includes many built-in performance features, including automatic key and data buffering, ReadShare (for fast shared file read access) and SpeedRead (for fast sequential index access).
Performance can also be optimized through the use of a number of unique indexing features. For example, applications can mix the high level, record-oriented function calls with low level, index-oriented functions to improve performance. Even access from slow devices such as CDROM can be fast when using C-Index/II for interactive games and information applications. Press "Details" for more about performance
